If you get the opportunity while in Italy please put Florence and Pisa on your “to see” list. I based out of Florence and took a train to Pisa. This way you can pack more in to your trip.
Florence is about 2 hours by train from Rome. It is worth spending the few extra euros to get a first class seat. Florence is such a special place and seeing the David live is so extremely special and was one of the highlights of my Italian trip. The architecture of the city is breathtaking and visiting the tombs of some of the world’s greats is humbling; Dante, Machiavelli, Galileo and Michelangelo. You are literally walking in the footsteps of legends.
One hour by train from Florence is Pisa. It is known for the leaning tower and the tower will not disappoint. I recommend that you wear your sneakers and walk to the top of the tower.it’s around 300 steps so it’s no breeze bit the view is spectacular.
Walking through the church is special and the town square is quaint and full of charm.
Hope you get to see both these cities.
