Amazing Trip to Chile

2016-11-01 15.46.50 The flight Denver to Santiago, Chile is a long one but it is well worth the haul. If you are heading from the States start looking out the plane window about ninety minutes prior to landing. You will see the beginning of the Andes mountain range. It is amazing and should not be missed. It is breathtaking.

Santiago is a busy city but getting out of the airport to the city is a quick 20 minute and pleasant ride. I suggest you either prearrange a limo or organize one of the official cabs inside the airport. Prices are very reasonable.

There are many terrific hotels and I stayed at the Inter Continental Hotel. The view from outside is spectacular and reminded me of the Pershing Hall in Paris. The service and amenities are first class. The gym has everything and gives no excuse to not work out. The bars and restaurants in the hotel are also well appointed and reasonably priced.

Walking around Santiago is like strolling around Montreal or many other European cities. You get a feeling of being taken back to calmer, quainter life.

For the more adventurous the bar and club scene is available. I highly recommend the visiting Lo Curro and the many restaurants. El Otro Sitio has awesome Italian cuisine The rooftop bar of El Apero is a special place.

Restaurants and cafes are in abundance Lomit’s is an absolute stand out. Their signature steak sandwich is the best I have personally tasted anywhere in the world. The bread is just awesome as well.

Vitacura is the place to go for shopping and is where the high end and the local designer shops can be found. The architecture and design of the store layouts is differentiated and very creative.

For sports fans the Bar California has every game imaginable available and the staff are terrific. They make a mean blueberry vodka so be careful and be warned.

The remarkable thing about Santiago is that within a matter of minutes you can be in the mountains looking down at Santiago that looks a little more than a dot, way below. Then in less than ninety minutes you can be walking on breathtaking beaches.

Put Santiago and Chile on your travel list. You will not be disappointed.
