Glacier Bay, Alaska

Glacier Bay is a sight to behold; the waters look as smooth as glass and the glacier calving (the pieces of ice that break off and float in the water) is nerve tingling. The whole experience is enhanced by breathing in some of the world’s cleanest air, which is given the name “champagne air”.

We traveled to the northern tip of the bay to cruise around Margerie Glacier. The glacier is 1 mile wide, stretches 23 miles long, sits 250 yards tall and extends another 100 yards below the surface of the water. The enormous mass of ice amidst the vast ocean is a perspective that can only be fully appreciated first-hand. I hope you get to see it you will not be disappointed. Enjoy! dh
