Here are two more of my favorite places to visit in New Zealand. If you missed part one, click here to check it out.
Waiheke Island has a lot to offer. A rich art community, amazing beaches and beautiful forests are just some of the things you can find here. Taking a hike or flight tour is a great way to take in the landscape, but one of the biggest draws of this island is the wine.
This island is only about a 30 minute ferry ride from Auckland and a popular spot for people looking to kick back or enjoy a wine tour. Despite the island not being particularly large, there are an impressive number of vineyards packed in for you to enjoy. Waiheke Island Wine Tours is one of the most popular options that drives you around to multiple vineyards.
They also have some great food on the island for you to enjoy. You can just wander until you find something that looks good, and enjoy some fantastic food in an incredible location.
This is the most active volcano in New Zealand and if you are up for a little adventure it can be an amazing place to explore. You can get here by helicopter or boat depending on what you are looking for. Be prepared if you want to actually explore the island, you will be required to wear safety gear like a gas mask. When you are exploring there’s a good chance you will see some scientists monitoring it as well which is pretty neat.
Another fun option is to go scuba diving around this island where you can see the underwater vents from the volcano. This is an experience not quite like any other, and if you are a seasoned scuba diver who thinks they have seen it all you should definitely look into this.
