Winter in Sao Paulo

If you have time I’d add São Paulo to your winter travel plans. The weather was perfect with only a few light and short showers. The temperature was in the high 70’s and not too humid.

For accommodation I would recommend the Renaissance. The hotel continues to provide breakout service and the entire staff on the Club level is simply outstanding.

The cuisine in the city gets better with every visit. Below I have highlighted just a few of my favorites that all but one are in within walking distance of the hotel. I was on business for a week so I really got to savor the cuisine this trip.

For an afternoon treat you have to check out Pao De Queijo a Brazilian delicacy and if you like bread and cheese you will really like it. The restaurant is Pao De Queijo and is on Lorena less than five minutes from the hotel.

Zucco is a must try for any Italian food lover. Every dish was wonderful and the risotto was exceptional.

Amadeus offers delightful seafood. The cocktails are a speciality and the food will not disappoint. They have a great selection of wines.

Banana Verde is a short cab ride away. It is a vegetarian food only concept. For a meat eater I wanted to give it a try and it was fantastic. Great service. great atmosphere and I’m glad I gave it a try. I’ll be back there for sure. I highly recommend the buffalo mozzarella ravioli. Their caipirinha Especial are the best as well. Be careful they more than sneak up on you.

My personal favorite nudging out Banana Verde by a nose is Bossa. The drinks, menu, atmosphere and of course the food was fantastic. I highly recommend the steak. The restaurant is owned by a poplar Brazilian DJ and the music and vibe was equally impressive.

My days were consumed with meetings so I did not get to enjoy the shops and the other things if on vacation but there are many shops to meet even the most discerning of shoppers needs. However, take a moment and walk through the opera house it is wonderful.

I highly recommend a trip to Brazil and São Paulo if you are looking for an escape from the cold weather back home. I missed the carnival by a week and heard it was spectacular so if you love large crowds and the hustle and bustle that goes with it check out the carnival dates.
